Hello, Long Weekend!

My mind and body is set to have a sluggish long weekend schedule so I have to make this real quick. I know you can relate to me. Who wouldn’t want to stay in bed with your pillows and blanket with this kind of weather? Perfect timing, eh? Enough of the chit-chat! Here’s how we welcomed the long weekend last night.

La Creperie: French snack in Manila

After going to St. Luke’s for my Ninang’s check-up, we went straight to Robinson’s Galleria for snacks, shopping, and pampering.

First stop, we went to La Creperie. I have been dying to go there after reading good reviews about them so I suggested giving it a shot. Ninang and I ordered cafe mocha and it was the best coffee I had so far! The chocolate and coffee were mixed to perfection!

Edible art!

For food, I ordered was La Mer from the Les Gastronomiques section.

It’s a crepe with tuna, mushrooms, caramelized onions, and tomatoes served with side salad. If the side salad were served a little more, it would be perfect.

The flavors were amazing! It was just that the salad had a very tiny serving, and it’s heartbreaking because I like it so much!

My ninang had the same comment; the salad should be served more than what they had plated us. She ordered Le J.J. crepe. It’s a crepe served with ham, 2 kinds of cheese (I apologize, as I can’t read in the photo I took from the menu), tomato, garlic, but she skipped the chili flakes. I had a taste of what she had, and it was delicious. If you love cheese, you should definitely try this.

While sipping our coffee we had a talk that the ambiance of the place was exquisite. It gives you a feel of France in Manila. Though the interior is gorgeous, I find it too small for a business but appropriate at the same time.

The name alone will be intimidating for some, what more if they see what’s inside—looks expensive that’s why I think it doesn’t have many customers.

Le Creperie is located at the Veranda of Robinson’s Galleria.

Discovered amore in Ristorante Bigoli

I have a raging desire for Italian cuisine. No matter where I go, I always favor Italian food. Can you blame me? The flavors and textures of their dishes are insanely delicious.

August 24th, Elaine and I were able to eat at Ristorante Bigoli. Boy, I was beyond ecstatic! I love to try something refreshing, and Bigoli didn’t fail me. Their foods are divine!

We don’t have an idea what to get as they all look appetizing to both us. We have decided to ask for their bestsellers and here are the goodies that we had. The presentation alone, made our mouths water.

The first thing that I tried was their Black Grapes Smoothie. That drink made me forget that I had a long day. First sip and you will already notice that the ingredients were freshly prepared. Alongside was their perfect blend of sweetness and freshness, which is very much appropriate for everyone’s taste buds.

Their double chocolate freeze is what coffee shops should watch out for. The flavor is very original; it has this sweetness that will make you crave for more. The drink has cookie bits which makes it very pleasing for my taste. To give you an idea how good the drink was: Elaine and I fought over it more than a couple of times.

I have to say Bigoli knows how to match! Their Italian chicken with spaghetti marinara is a perfect tandem! The sour pasta sauce complements the saltiness of the chicken. By the way, the chicken is cooked to perfection. This is a must try!

Spaghetti Al pesto with Pepperoni Pizza is also recommended. The pasta was al dente and the pesto was freshly cooked. The texture is perfect and the flavors were accurately mixed. The pepperoni pizza is something you will definitely ask for more. It’s satisfying but wants you to devour another because of its exquisite Italian taste.

If there is something that I can’t get over in my Bigoli experience, that would be their Stromboli Bacon. It was perfection on a plate! The flavors were flawlessly mixed; the cheese and bacon wrapped and dipped in Alfredo sauce is now my new favorite. Honestly, if I wasn’t served with pasta I can consume the entire plate! Talk about indulging with good food!

Did you guys know that I haven’t tasted gelato before? Stickhouse was my first try and it was perfect. The flavor that I chose was Pistachio, their bestseller. It was my first time to try that kind of flavor too. Before, I always stick to the safe flavors like chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, or mango. With Stickhouse I went beyond my comfort zone, and I’m so glad that I followed my instinct. It was great! I love the flavor so much!

Elaine contrastingly chose the strawberry gelato because she doesn’t like the taste of pistachio. She has tried other stores with that flavor and she didn’t like it. She loves the strawberry and so did I (yes, we shared the entire menu, lol!). Both of us have no regrets in choosing those flavors.

Just a little trivia: Both of us were surprised that there is such a things as gelato on a stick, as the usual gelatos were usually served in cups. And can you believe that it’s affordable? They serve Php60 to Php80 per stick!

By the way, Ristorante Bigoli have the most accommodating staff ever! Grazie to all of you!

This experience makes us look forward to another food escapade! Ristorante Bigoli is located at Level 4 of Trinoma (beside the cinema) and 2F SM North EDSA, Annex.
